The goal of this course is to offer students a theoretical framework and an interdisciplinary approach to specific financial problems in a clear relation to financial theory itself.
In this course we will cover an interdisciplinary approach to frame the ethical values involved with some recent incidents on financial markets. The modern dominance of financial markets and all its inherent human attitudes raise many questions in different adjacent disciplines. Especially the assumptions as rooted in financial theory itself will be a topic of analysis. Examples of topics discussed may be ethical codes, interest and ethics, tax laws and ethics, ethics and processing financial information, insider trade, etc.
After a general introduction on mainstream ethics and financial ethics in the first sessions, invited speakers will introduce specific topics on ethics and finance in the remaining sessions. After the introductions, a class discussion will take place the second hour.
See course manual (to be handed out).
