Help with Course Information

The Course Information contains the authorized information about a course. Besides this authorized information most courses have additional information, available at the homepage of the course on the Internet.

Categories

The different categories have the meaning mentioned below:

code - code
The official EROS-code under which the course is known at the Student Administration Office.
 
studiebelasting - credits
The weights and credits of the course: 1 creditpoint equals 40 hours of study.

periode - period
The lecture-period(s) when the course is offered. ‘Sem.’ stands for semester, ‘trim.’ for trimester. For the time and place where the course is given, the student is referred to the course timetables.
The timetables (including possible changes) are available on the Internet:
http://www.few.eur.nl/few/edu/rooster/.
Last-minute changes in the timetable (for example the cancellation of a lecture due to the sickness of a lecturer) can be seen every day on the monitors in the Lecture-room-hall (C-building).
 
naam - title
The title of the course.
Notice that course titles have the tendency to change. In order to clarify if two different titles relate to the same course, the EROS-codes of these courses should be taken into account.
 
internet - Internet
Additional information on the course accessible via the Internet.
hompage: The URL of the homepage of the course.
This homepage contains additional (meaning non-authorized) information about the course, for example assignments that are to be carried out during the lecture, and former examinations and 'correct answers'.
Unfortunately not every course has its own homepage yet.
roosters: The timetable of the course activities (including official tests).
 
opleiding/fase - subject/phase
The standard place where a course belongs in the curriculum.
 
voertaal - teaching language
The language in which the course is offered.
 
docent(en) - lecturer(s)
The lecturers that offer the course.
 
contactpersoon - person to contact
The person to contact of the course. This person can be asked any questions concerning the content of the course.
 
secretariaat - secretariat
The secretariat that supports the person of contact and the lecturer(s) of the course. If necessary you can deliver/obtain material here for the course.
 
aanmelding - application
The application procedure of the course.
If there is an application procedure, it is only possible to participate in the course if you have applied in accordance with the described procedure.
If there is no application procedure, you can participate in the course without any further problems (provided you comply with the entry requirements).
 
toelatingseisen - entry requirements
The requirements you have to comply with in order to participate in the course.
Notice that the entry of a course does not automatically imply that you can participate in the examination of the course. There can be additional requirements that you have to meet in order to participate in the examination.
 
aanbevolen - recommended knowledge
The recommended knowledge the student should have at the start of the course.
The student is advised to attend the listed course(s) first.
 
onderwijsvorm - method of instruction
The way in which the course is offered.
 
tentamenvorm - method of examination
The way in which the examination is carried out.
 
tentamenperiode - examination period
The period(s) in which the examination of the course is scheduled.
For the exact time when the examination is scheduled, the student is referred to the examination schedule.
The examination schedule can be obtained as a brochure at the Student Information Center. Changes in the examination schedule are published in the Erasmus Magazine. The examination schedule (including possible changes) is also available on the Internet:   http://www.few.eur.nl/few/edu/rooster/.
On the day of the relevant examination the monitors in the Lecture-room-hall (C-building) show where the examination will take place.
In order to participate in the examination, you need to apply timely.

The material that the examination takes into account.
 
doelstelling - objective
The objective of the course.
 
inhoud - content
A description of the content of the course, and in what way the course is given.
 
verplichte literatuur - required literature
The required literature of the course.
Some courses also have recommended literature. If available, the recommended literature can be found at the homepage of the course on the Internet.
